Mr Jim O’Dempsey has worked in regulation of health practitioners for over 25 years. In 1993 he established the Queensland Nursing Council and led that regulatory authority until 2001 when he took up the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Office of Health Practitioner Boards which provided support to 13 health professional regulatory authorities including the Medical Board of Queensland.
Jim has held various positions with AHPRA including Queensland State Manager and National Director, Business Improvement. Since 2014 Jim has led the Compliance Division which oversights the management of practitioners with registration restrictions (conditions and undertakings) or who are suspended. From 2017, the Compliance Division has also been responsible for the triage of all offence complaints and the management of all low and moderate risk advertising offence cases under the Advertising Compliance and Enforcement Strategy.
